Ennet House – Sensitive Bends

Standard

The second album from this fantastic experimental pop duo. Regular readers might remember that I posted their EP a while back here. Their first album, Little Room, is also now available for free from their bandcamp page.

As with their first album, Ennet House have crafted a selection of lush, textural and catchy tracks. However, Sensitive Bends is filled with perhaps an even greater psych-pop intensity.  The album is designed to take you on a ‘visual journey’ across four suites, and these guys more than pull it off.  The whole album ebbs and flows as each track segues fluidly into the next. The result is amazing and might just surprise you with such a dynamic tracklist. All in all, there’s a hell of a lot of great stuff to listen out for on Sensitive Bends. Highly recommended.

The Mad Pride – Various Tracks

Standard

The Mad Pride is the brainchild of Rowan Galagher. Fusing together various genres including folk, neoclassical, darkwave, post-rock and psychdelica, The Mad Pride has drawn comparisons with artists such as Syd Barrett, David Bowie, Radiohead and Leonard Cohen. The previous description is almost identical to my own introduction to this artist, so you can see why I was instantly intrigued as to what this sort of mix would sound like! All I can say is that this is some seriously great music, and hard to pin down without giving it a listen. Polar Sunspots is no reviewing site, so if you still aren’t sold you can find one over at the ever fantastic inb4track.

You can also download a selection of songs on The Mad Pride’s Soundcloud, Facebook and Reverbnation pages for free. If you enjoy the music and wish to contribute to the artist, you can purchase his album Scary Poppins (pictured) for a mere $5 at Bandcamp.

Creature Breath – I am Creature Breath

Standard

Gorgeous folk that is a little psychedelic at points. Generally quite stripped down, with most of the tracks mainly featuring a female vocalist and acoustic guitar. A few well placed electronic elements and additional instruments here and there. Vocals are consistently fantastic, as are the lyrics. Has a really earthy, natural vibe with some simple effects creating an incredible atmosphere.

If This Is A Man – Random Acts Of Kindness Have Saved Lives

Standard

Dreamy, genre hopping release from England. Takes influence from various genres, including shoegaze, folk, psychedelica, slowcore and ambient. You can expect to hear some electronic elements too. If This Is A Man manages to do this whilst still remaining cohesive – no easy feat as you can probably guess! Really heartfelt and emotional album. Highly recommended.
